How to track your Spotify streams

Count your LISA streams on Spotify live and import your full Spotify listening history into LILIES UNIVERSE.

Spotify is the most used platform among Lilies. There are two parts: live counting for the streams you play from now on, and a history upload for everything you streamed before.

Why the "Connect" button may not work for you: Spotify only allows its direct connection (the Spotify API) for accounts it has approved. If you can't connect, nothing is wrong with your account. Use the extension or the Android counter below instead; they count your Spotify streams just the same.

Count Spotify streams live

On a laptop or PC

Install the LILIES WEB UNIVERSE browser extension and play LISA in the Spotify Web Player (open.spotify.com). The full setup, including your personal Lilie Live Key, is explained in the browser extension guide.

On an Android phone

Switch on the live counter in the LILIES UNIVERSE Android app once. It then counts the LISA songs you play in the Spotify app, even when LILIES UNIVERSE is closed. See the Android live counter guide.

On iPhone

Apple does not let apps see what Spotify plays on an iPhone. Connect Last.fm to Spotify so your iPhone streams are scrobbled and appear on the Last.fm leaderboards.

Import your Spotify history

Spotify lets everyone download their own listening data. The Extended streaming history covers your whole account, back to the day you signed up, and LILIES UNIVERSE keeps only the LISA streams from it.

  1. Go to spotify.com/account and open Privacy settings.
  2. Scroll to Download your data, tick Extended streaming history and submit the request. Confirm the email Spotify sends you.
  3. Wait for Spotify's second email with the download link. Extended history usually takes up to 30 days (check your spam folder).
  4. Download the ZIP file and extract it. Inside you find files called Streaming_History_Audio_…json.
  5. In LILIES UNIVERSE open Connect Platforms → Spotify → Import Full History → Upload Data.
  6. Select all Streaming_History JSON files at once (hold Ctrl or Cmd to select several) and wait until the import is finished.

Duplicates are skipped automatically, so you can upload a newer export later without counting anything twice. Uploaded streams appear in the History view of the leaderboards; streams counted by the extension or the Android counter appear in the Live view. Read more in how the leaderboards work.
